Golden Moment (2023) is a visual embrace of fleeting beauty — that elusive instant when clarity and awe collide. Part of the Out of Darkness Collection, this 48 x 48 inch mixed media painting uses structure to frame sensation, transforming abstraction into a vessel for time.

The painting centers around a grid — not rigid, but luminous — built from golden lines that shimmer across textured fields of soft blue, dusky rose, and raw parchment. These intersecting forms don’t contain so much as illuminate, catching the eye like a spark in the periphery.

I created Golden Moment as a response to those ephemeral feelings we can’t hold, only notice — the way the light lands on a face, or the breath just before laughter. The title is both literal and metaphorical: an instant that glows, then vanishes.

This work draws influence from Agnes Martin, whose quiet grids radiate a presence that is more emotional than mathematical. Like Martin, I see repetition and symmetry not as rules, but as rhythms — gentle ways to organize something ungraspable.

Golden Moment isn’t about gold. It’s about recognition — the pause that occurs when beauty interrupts us. In this painting, that pause becomes form.

As part of the Out of Darkness Collection, this piece explores how geometry can serve poetry — how the sharp becomes soft, and how order can hold wonder without naming it.
