Plume of Violet Reverie: The Silent Lift of Color and Thread

Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 3ft x 3ft
Creation Date: 2025
Collection: Organic Movement

In Plume of Violet Reverie (36" x 36"), violet radiance rises like breath through silence. This work is a smaller-scale meditation within my larger Organic Movement series, painted using oil-soaked cotton thread in place of brushes. Every gesture is guided not by bristles, but by tension, gravity, and the delicate choreography of filament and intent.

The background—a rich, oxblood field—grounds the composition in warmth and gravity. The violet plume, composed of hundreds of parallel thread passes, evokes not only motion, but memory. It is soft yet insistent. It reaches upward like an idea forming before it’s spoken.

This piece echoes the emotional quiet of Morris Louis, the gestural subtlety of Pat Steir, and the tactile innovation of Sheila Hicks. Yet its voice is uniquely mine—an exploration of how thread can render atmosphere and affect, not just form.

Collectors seeking contemplative work with a bold center will find Plume of Violet Reverie to be a meditative pause—still, textured, and quietly radiant.
