Abstract Landscape emerged during a period of reflection on memory, place, and perception. Painted in oil on canvas, this 60 x 36 inch work is part of my Ephemeral Atmosphere Collection, which explores internal weather and the fluidity of visual experience. The painting doesn't aim to depict any real geography — instead, it channels the emotional tone of imagined terrains.
Wide strokes of olive green, ochre, and muted blue unfold across the surface like open plains. These horizontal gestures are interrupted by subtle verticals — scratches, glazes, and foggy overlays that blur the distinction between sky and land, form and mood. There's no perspective grid, no clear orientation — only motion and depth.
As I worked on this piece, I thought about landscapes not as views, but as states of mind. The kind of space we carry inside, shaped by memory, shaped by longing. It’s not about representing a moment in nature, but about allowing a feeling to evolve across a field of color and motion.
In spirit, this painting resonates with the abstract topographies of Richard Diebenkorn, whose Ocean Park series embraced architecture, land, and light as interwoven gestures. Like Diebenkorn, I was less interested in details and more in rhythm — the quiet pulse of something just beneath the surface.
Abstract Landscape invites the viewer to slow down and enter — not a place, but a sensation. A memory that isn’t yours, but somehow feels familiar.
