Rain Forest (2022) is a layered immersion into life at its most vibrant and chaotic. This 98.4 x 76.7 inch acrylic painting, part of the Ephemeral Atmosphere Collection, invites the viewer into a dense, breathing world of texture, color, and vitality.

Rather than depict a forest literally, I sought to evoke its pulse — the rhythm of moisture, decay, bloom, and the unseen life between layers. Vertical drips and bursts of green, ochre, indigo, and dark earth form a visual ecosystem where boundaries dissolve and everything seems to grow at once.

The painting was made in a state of sensory surrender. With each layer, I imagined light filtering through a jungle canopy, or water evaporating off soil. There’s no clear path. You wander. You get lost. And in that disorientation, something new begins to grow.

In both spirit and method, Rain Forest recalls the immersive energy of Joan Snyder, whose painterly surfaces pulse with organic density and ritual. Like Snyder, I see abstraction as a living field — something wild and rooted, not sterile or conceptual.

There’s no single focal point in this work. It sprawls. It teems. It breathes. The canvas holds space for multiplicity — life layered upon life, brushstroke upon brushstroke.

As part of the Ephemeral Atmosphere Collection, Rain Forest is a celebration of sensory overwhelm and ecological presence. A painting not to be read, but to be entered.
