Moving Through Space and Time (2023) is a meditation on passage — a painting about transition, expansion, and the invisible force of continuity. This 60 x 60 inch oil on canvas work belongs to the Black and White Collection, and it offers not just an image, but an experience of motion.

The composition is kinetic but soft. Bands of cobalt blue, dusky rose, and interstellar black stretch across the surface like orbit lines or dream paths. Specks of gold drift like distant stars. Brushstrokes vary in speed and scale, creating a rhythm that suggests travel — not across terrain, but through thought, breath, and moment.

I created this painting while contemplating the idea of duration — how time isn’t linear, but layered. In it, I tried to paint not where I was going, but how it felt to move. It’s not a map. It’s a mood.

Moving Through Space and Time echoes the cosmic abstraction of Vija Celmins, though it leans more toward gesture than replication. Like Celmins, I’m drawn to space not for its emptiness, but for its emotional magnitude — the awe it evokes.

This painting doesn’t rush. It drifts. It holds presence while allowing change. It invites the viewer to step into motion and feel its weightless gravity.

As part of the Black and White Collection, it becomes a meditation on scale — how vastness can feel intimate, and how stillness can carry speed.
