Exploring Abstraction
Creative Blend of Photography and Painting
“Photography has almost no reality, it is almost a hundred per cent picture, and painting always has reality, you can touch the paint; it has presence.” –Gerhard Richter
As a professional photographer, my artistic practice has always been deeply influenced by the dynamic interplay between reality and abstraction. My journey into contemporary abstract art began with an innovative approach: enlarging my photographic works onto canvas and enhancing them with acrylic paints. This experimental fusion of mediums has evolved into a distinctive style, where the precision of photography meets the expressive freedom of abstract painting. It is a process of merging the tangible with the imagined, creating compositions that blur the boundaries between photographic realism and painterly abstraction.
Each piece is a deliberate exploration, reinterpreting familiar forms and scenes into dreamlike visions. My work particularly focuses on organic forms, such as the female figure, seeking to distill their essence while embracing abstraction. The creative process is both exhilarating and challenging, involving a delicate balance between deconstructing the original image and reimagining its essence in a new visual language. This tension between preservation and transformation is where my artistic voice emerges most clearly.
Through this innovative blend of mediums, I aim to redefine how we perceive and engage with art, carving out a unique space in the realm of contemporary abstract art. Each creation invites viewers to experience a harmonious contradiction – where photography and painting coexist, pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling and offering a fresh perspective on the familiar.
