My Heart (2020),from the Geometric Splendor Collection, is an abstract reflection on vulnerability, architecture, and the spaces we build to protect what is most fragile. Measuring 36 x 36 inches, this acrylic on canvas juxtaposes rigid, black linear forms against a backdrop of vibrant yellows and soft pinks.

The painting evokes both an architectural blueprint and an emotional diagram, where the lines contain, protect, but also confine. The composition suggests a heart not as a literal form, but as a precarious structure — a container of tension, longing, and fragility.

I see My Heart in dialogue with Olga de Amaral, whose woven abstractions bridge textile, sculpture, and painting, creating delicate architectures of emotion. Like Amaral, I use repetition and structure to explore the vulnerabilities hidden within rigid forms.

My Heart is an invitation to see strength and fragility not as opposites, but as coexisting forces within our emotional geographies.

Ritu Raj is a contemporary abstract painter based in Phoenix, Arizona, working mostly at scale — canvases of five to eight feet. His practice runs in two bodies: Abstract Inquiry, in oil and acrylic, and Organic Movement, which replaces the brush with thread, using gravity and viscosity as compositional instruments.
