Chromatic Apex in Motion: Thread Painting as a Living Form in the Organic Movement Collection

In Chromatic Apex in Motion (36x36 in., oil on canvas), I continue the exploration of form and energy through my Organic Movement Collection. The canvas becomes a field of motion, where thread-like strokes radiate outward in waves of crimson, gold, and sapphire. The gestures are layered yet unforced, allowing the texture to unfold as if the painting itself were breathing.

This piece represents a culmination of my thread painting technique, where instead of brushes, string is pulled, dragged, and released across the canvas. The result is a rhythmic tapestry of movement—at once deliberate and spontaneous. In this work, I aimed to capture an apex moment: the rising and breaking point where energy converges into a crest before dissolving back into stillness.

The painting speaks to the same elemental forces explored by contemporary abstractionists like Mark Bradford, whose surfaces weave personal and urban narratives through layers, and Julie Mehretu, whose monumental canvases pulse with the dynamism of landscapes and histories. Yet Chromatic Apex in Motion finds its own path, rooted in the dialogue between control and surrender, structure and release.

For me, this painting is less about representation and more about resonance. It asks: how do we witness motion when it solidifies into form? How do color and texture become a site where presence unfolds? At its core, Chromatic Apex in Motion embodies the spirit of the Organic Movement: letting the gesture guide the story, letting energy reveal itself in texture and line.

After 30 years as an executive and entrepreneur, I returned to painting full-time to explore what words and strategy couldn’t hold. I create bold, expressive abstract art to shift how we see and feel—opening space for reflection, connection, and quiet transformation. For me, change begins not with certainty, but with listening.
